Practising Positive Mental Health

In difficult times, it is so important to look after your mental health. I have put together some of my favourite tips that help me get through days when I feel a bit down. Please share any ideas that work for you in the comments below!

Staying hydrated!

Dehydration feels awful and will only worsen your mental state! It can make you feel fatigued, irritable and cause headaches. So drink 6-8 glasses of water a day!

Taking regular breaks

Taking regular breaks throughout the day can help you to stay more focused, and be more productive. Aim to take at least a 5 minute break for every hour of work, and perhaps get some fresh air (if you can!)

Keeping a Routine!

Routine is so important, especially during stressful times, as it can help us feel in control of what is happening! I like to make a to-do list in the evenings and plan my next day (making sure I schedule in regular breaks of course).

Sleep Hygiene!

It might feel difficult to get to sleep at night at the minute, but it is so important to practise sleep hygiene. Getting enough sleep is crucial to positive mental health. Going to bed and getting up at a consistent time is the start of sleep hygiene, and I recommend you to do some googling to find out more – the NHS website has some good information on sleep!

Those are all of my favourite tips to make it through difficult patches. I hope you learned something new, or took something to reflect on. I’m wishing you all the best mental health during this time!
